The Angel of Death by Alane Ferguson

Back in December, I read and reviewed The Christopher Killer, and I couldn't wait to read the sequel. So, last week, I finally had a chance to sit downThe Angel of Death, and I enjoyed it, at least as much as its predecessor.

Cameryn is struggling with the new developments in her life (and I won't go into details because that would spoil the first book if you haven't read it yet), when she and her father are presented with another gruesome case. A teacher from Cameryn's high school has died mysteriously in his bed -- and his internal organs appear to have been burnt, but there is no sign of a fire. To complicate matters even more, Cameryn begins a relationship with Kyle, the boy scout who found the body, who may know more than he's letting on.

Ferguson weaves together the forensic details (which are fascinating), and Cameryn's personal life -- and I can't help but make comparison's to Veronica Mars. I am a bit concerned though -- it's a small town, how many murders can there possibly be?

But even so, I'll be looking forward to the next one!

Remember the series I recommended?

Look at the cover of the first book:

. . . Then back at the Ferguson cover.

You know, somewhere I saw a cover that looked even more similar -- now I'm going to have to try to find it again.

not to mention that I'm really going to have to read this series that you and Jackie suggested. I'm just a little scared of series with 10 books in them -- that's a major commitment;)

Just be glad you can read them all back-to-back! :)

Good point! Don't you hate it when you read almost to the end of a series and then you have to wait for months, or years, for the very last book? It's torture!

BoE has tons of non-story publishing stories. When CG was working on the 8th, they knew it MIGHT be the last one in the series, but then had him rework it so things weren't all tidied up - THEN waited years and years before doing another contract for more books. This means some readers and reviewers misjudged that 8th book, saying it wasn't a good ending to the series, things weren't tied up, etc etc. I had to defend it for eons and eons. Then, years later, that promise of two more books was confirmed. Then, books nine and ten came out. SO GOOD.

I think that the similar cover you may be thinking of is Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers.

Haven't read it, but have been told it's quite good.

And yes, really, Body of Evidence.
